The fine print

Captain Frugal is built for receipt-aware budgeting without making bank linking a requirement. This page explains the main app permissions and security choices in plain language.
When you scan, upload, or import a receipt, Captain Frugal uses the file to help create and review a receipt record. Receipt records may include details extracted from the receipt and choices you confirm in the app.
Automated or AI-assisted receipt reading helps extract details from receipt files. Extracted details can be wrong or incomplete, so the app is designed to keep review and correction available to you. Automated receipt reading is not financial, tax, accounting, legal, investment, or credit advice.
Receipt category suggestions may use your existing app history and optional assistance where enabled. Suggestions are meant to help with review, not to make final decisions for you. They should be checked before they become part of your records.
Captain Frugal uses platform authentication and service-side access controls to help keep accounts and household data separated from other users.
The receipt-aware budgeting flow does not require connecting a bank account. The app focuses on information you choose to add, review, and organize.
You can start account deletion in the app where available, or contact support if you cannot access your account. See Account deletion for details about what deletion covers and what may need to be retained.
For privacy rights, retention, service providers, analytics consent, and receipt data details, read the Privacy Policy, Cookie and Analytics Notice, and Subprocessors and Transfers page. For app issues or access problems, contact support.
